Dance Company of Wales

Since 1983, Diversions has established itself as an award-winning dance company, presenting adventurous and stylish programmes of dance. As Artistic Director of Wales' National Dance Company, Ann Sholem is committed to presenting a unique repertoire by commissioning choreographers whose work is generally not seen in the UK. Performances consist of double or triple bills and are toured throughout Wales, the UK and overseas. The Company aspires to be both a flagship company for Wales and a leading European dance company, producing an engaging and exciting repertoire to the highest standards with the very best international choreographers.

Diversions currently consists of eight dancers and has partnerships with London Contemporary Dance School and Rotterdam Dance Academy through which it engages apprentices.

Recent commissions include works from: Stephen Petronio (US), Stephen Shropshire (US/Netherlands), Itzik Galili (Israel), Stijn Celis (Belgium), Juan Carlos Garcia (Spain), Roy Campbell-Moore (Wales) and Hélène Blackburn (Montreal). The Company tours throughout the world performing in a diverse range of venues including: Wales Millennium Centre (Cardiff), The Grand Opera House (Belfast), His Majesty's Theatre (Aberdeen), Queen Elizabeth Hall (London) as well as Teatro National de Cuba (Havana) and Technopolis (Athens).
